Criminal Proceedings Initiated Against Citizen for Insulting Senior Clergymen

Lawyer Ara Zahrabyan reports that on February 5 and 6, 2024, during the course of derogatory remarks made by Andranik Dovlathyans on the social network Facebook regarding senior clergymen, criminal proceedings were initiated on February 16, 2024, by the appropriate division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. This is under Article 297, Part 2, Clause 3 of the RA Criminal Code (hooliganism committed using information or communication technologies, punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to five years).

A special investigative group has been formed under the same criminal case.

“I also inform that I have provided the head of the investigative group with information about 418 citizens who have also joined the report of 23 lawyers,” the lawyer writes.
