Attempt to Smuggle Gold from Armenia to Georgia Thwarted
Georgian customs officials have thwarted an attempt to smuggle jewelry worth 16,700 lari (approximately $6,200) through the Sadakhlo checkpoint at the Armenian border. This information was reported by Sputnik Georgia, referencing the Revenue Service.
During the inspection, 171.1 grams of gold jewelry were seized from a foreign citizen. The nationality of the offender has not been disclosed.
The case involving the foreign national has been forwarded to the investigative department of the Ministry of Finance for further action.
