How Many Citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan Acquired Property in Armenia in 2023

During 2023, citizens of Turkey purchased 3 apartments in multi-apartment residential buildings in the Republic of Armenia, all located in Yerevan. This information was reported by the State Committee of the Real Estate Cadastre in response to a written inquiry from Sputnik Armenia.

It is noted that in 2022, Turkish citizens had acquired 11 properties in Armenia, again in Yerevan. The Cadastre Committee also indicated that there were no real estate purchases by citizens of Azerbaijan in Armenia in 2023, whereas in 2022, they had purchased 2 properties, one in Yerevan and the other, an individual residential house, in the Lori province.

“In 2023, 2 apartments in a multi-apartment residential building were sold by Turkish citizens in Yerevan and 1 land plot in the Ararat region. During the same period, a single apartment in a multi-apartment residential building was sold by a citizen of Azerbaijan,” stated the committee, without specifying the nationalities of the citizens involved.

It should be added that no real estate transactions were made by citizens of Azerbaijan or Turkey in Armenia in 2022.

According to earlier data published by the Cadastre Committee, 4479 real estate transactions were conducted in the Armenian real estate market by foreign citizens in 2023. In 1492 cases, foreigners were buyers, 2834 cases involved them as sellers, and in 153 cases both parties were foreign citizens.

It is worth noting that individuals holding Turkish citizenship first bought real estate in Armenia in 2005, while those with Azerbaijani citizenship started doing so in 2012.
