Cause of Death Still Undetermined: What Navalny's Lawyer Said

The lawyer and mother of opposition politician Alexei Navalny were unable to enter the morgue in Salehard. They were informed that the body of the political figure was not there.

“Navalny's lawyer and mother arrived at the morgue in Salehard. It was closed, despite assurances from the colony that it was operational and that Navalny's body was there. The lawyer called the number listed on the door. He was told that he was already the seventh to call today. Alexei's body is not in the morgue,” wrote Navalny's press secretary Kira Yarmysh.

The lawyer, who arrived at the Salehard Investigative Committee, was informed that the cause of Alexei's death has not been determined, and a repeat tissue examination has been conducted, according to opposition politician's press secretary Kira Yarmysh. She noted that the results of the examination are reportedly expected next week.

“It is obvious that they are lying and doing everything to prevent the body from being handed over,” she wrote.

It is noteworthy that Alexei Navalny died in prison yesterday at the age of 47.
