Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Borrell's Criticism
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to criticism directed at them by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell. The Ministry stated, "We condemn and reject the baseless accusations against Azerbaijan made by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, during the joint press conference with the Armenian Foreign Minister, Ararat Mirzoyan.
We consider the Armenian side's justification as turning a blind eye to the military provocations of Armenia. Unfortunately, after five months of stability, the EU has ignored the injury of an Azerbaijani serviceman from sniper fire without any provocative factors. The steps taken by Azerbaijan in response to the provocation were entirely adequate and of a local nature. These measures also prevented the Armenian attempts to escalate the military situation further.
It is recalled that earlier, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and the Armenian Foreign Minister, Ararat Mirzoyan, discussed the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and recent developments.
