Students Find Themselves in a Hopeless Situation: MP
According to the media, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan has decided to renovate the Zeytun dormitory, where about 300 students are currently residing. This was reported by Garnik Danielyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Armenia' faction, on his Facebook page.
'I learned from the media that Minister Zhanna Andreasyan has decided to renovate the Zeytun dormitory, where about 300 students are currently living. The students have found themselves in a hopeless situation. They report that they do not have the financial means to rent apartments until the renovation is completed,' he stated.
In a conversation with the dormitory director, it became clear that the number of students has increased by 100 compared to last year, due to the rise in rental prices for apartments. The director confirmed that he had raised this issue and is hopeful that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport will not make decisions that would harm the students.
It is worth noting that the Zeytun dormitory is unique in that it houses students from various universities. I consider it unacceptable to leave hundreds of students homeless during the academic year under the pretext of renovation works. If the Ministry of Education decides to begin renovations, it must first address the accommodation issues of the students,' the MP wrote.
