By 2050, There Will Be More Plastic in Oceans than Fish: Levon Azizyan
Every year, humanity produces 300 million tons of plastic waste, including 11 million tons that eventually ends up in the oceans. At this rate, by 2050, there will be more plastic in the seas than fish. This was stated by Levon Azizyan, director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, in a post on his Facebook page.
“We all have a role to play in protecting the environment by refusing plastic products, using reusable glass water bottles, and bringing fabric bags for shopping. It is each of our responsibilities to take care of our planet, to love and appreciate it,” he wrote.
