Driver Fines to Be Reduced: Parliament Approved the Draft in First Reading
The draft law on reducing driver fines was accepted in the first reading with 63 votes in favor, 27 against, and 6 abstentions.
The proposed amendments to the RA Law on Administrative Violations state that if a citizen applies through the roadpolice.am website for a copy of the administrative act related to violations recorded by video or photo equipment, and the administrative body sends the act to the indicated email as required, the fine will be reduced by 20% off the established amount.
Additionally, if the citizen pays at least 70% of the fine for the traffic violation within 15 days, the remaining portion will be considered paid.
According to the new amendments, if there are accumulated debts related to fines, by paying 50% of the fines in their cases at the State Revenue Committee, the citizen will eliminate the debt.
Incidentally, the Secretary of the “Hayastan” parliamentary faction, Artavik Minasyan, declared that they are voting against the draft; however, they will decide how to vote in the second reading based on the solutions provided to their proposals.
In response, Vladimir Vardanyan, a member of the “Civil Contract” faction, stated that no proposals regarding this draft were submitted by the opposition faction.
As for the six abstentions, they were from the “Honor” faction.
The National Assembly also approved in the first reading the draft amendments to the laws on “Gambling, Internet Gambling, and Casinos” and “Preventing Domestic Violence, Protecting Persons Subjected to Domestic Violence, and Restoring Family Harmony.”
