VIDEO: Explosives Being Transported from Georgia to Russia for Terrorism; Armenian Citizens Also Involved

Edita

The special services of Georgia have thwarted an attempt to transport a shipment of explosives from Odesa to Voronezh, with seven citizens from Georgia, three from Ukraine, and two from Armenia suspected of the crime. This was reported by Sputnik Georgia, referencing the country's State Security Service.

It is noted that on January 19, 2024, six explosive devices were smuggled from Odesa by a citizen of Ukraine in a minivan through Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey, with plans to transport them to Voronezh via the 'Daryal' checkpoint.

Three explosive devices were seized at the checkpoint by the Georgian side, which were attempted to be moved through transit containers. The Georgian State Security Service has identified the organizer as Andrey Sharashidze, a candidate for parliament from the 'Georgian Dream' party, originally from Batumi.

A criminal case has been initiated for the illegal acquisition and storage of explosive devices and materials, although the State Security Service does not rule out that the charges could be upgraded to preparation for a terrorist act.
