Number of Homeless in Germany Surge Due to Ukrainian Refugees: Bild
The number of homeless individuals in Germany has sharply increased due to the influx of Ukrainian refugees. Currently, there are approximately 77,000 homeless people registered in the country, the majority of whom are foreigners. This figure is nearly 2.5 times higher than a year ago, according to the German publication Bild.
MP Ruben Rupp reported that 84% of all homeless individuals in the region are foreigners. He believes that such statistics indicate serious mistakes made by the Baden-Württemberg authorities regarding immigration policies.
Moreover, the rise in homelessness in Germany is reportedly linked to the lack of rental properties, rising energy costs, and the absence of social housing.
On Friday, February 2nd, Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska, stated that forcing Ukrainians to return to their homeland would be a wrong decision for democratic countries. She emphasized the need for restored homes and mental peace for Ukrainians to consider returning.
