DETAILS: Armenian Side Has No Confirmation on Czech Citizen 'Illegally Crossing the Border' and Detained in Azerbaijan

The Armenian side currently has no confirmation regarding the information disseminated by Azerbaijani media yesterday, claiming that a Czech citizen illegally crossed the border with Armenia.

The name of the Czech citizen has not been released, but reports state he was detained at one of the border checkpoints with Armenia and arrested by Azerbaijani authorities.

According to Infoteka24, the Armenian police have not received any report regarding the disappearance of any Czech citizen. The EU mission also has no information on this issue.

Diplomatic sources from Infoteka24 indicate that the Czech citizen detained by Azerbaijani border guards has no connection to the EU monitoring mission in Armenia. The Czech ambassador in Armenia, Petr Pirunčík, informed “Azatutyun” that this incident is unrelated to any member of the EU observer mission in Armenia, countering claims made by certain Azerbaijani media outlets without specifying their sources.
