Lev Sarkisov, the First Armenian Climber to Scale Everest, Passes Away

Lev Sarkisov, an Armenian climber who reached the summit of the world's highest peak, has passed away at the age of 86. This was announced by the Armenian Federation of Mountaineering and Mountain Tourism.
Lev Sarkisov was born on December 2, 1938, in Voronezh. After World War II, the Sarkisov family moved to Tbilisi. Lev Sarkisov reached the summit of Mount Everest as part of a Georgian team organized in the Caucasus, named 'Caucasus-99.'
On July 27, 2016, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia awarded Lev Sarkisov a certificate of appreciation for his significant contributions and outstanding achievements in the field of mountaineering.
