If Preventive Screenings Are Not Completed, Health Packages Will Be Frozen, Avanesyan Says

Individuals who do not undergo preventive screenings will have their health packages frozen until they complete all necessary tests corresponding to their age. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, during a conversation with journalists in Jermuk.

“This will contribute to improving the quality of life in our country and increasing the average life expectancy,” she said.

The minister noted that in the universal healthcare system, which is being gradually implemented in Armenia, the emphasis is placed on preventive medicine, where diseases are sought to be detected early without waiting for them to reach a severe condition.

It should be recalled that from mid-2024, medical insurance will be provided to disabled and vulnerable citizens (beneficiaries), public servants using social packages, as well as minors (under 18 years old). Starting in 2025, it will extend to employees in the public sector who do not use social packages, as well as pensioners. From 2026, it will include employees in the private sector and farmers. Ultimately, in 2027, all others are expected to be included in the program. However, the specifics of the insurance coverage and its state co-financing for different groups of citizens have not yet been determined.
