VIDEO: Powerful Explosions and Fire in Kenya's Capital, Casualties and Hundreds Injured
A powerful fire has erupted at a gas station in Nairobi, Kenya, following a series of explosions. According to the national Red Cross on social media, the number of injured is approaching 300.
The fire broke out shortly before midnight in the Embakasi area of the capital. Earlier reports had indicated two fatalities and 167 hospitalizations.
“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of various units, 271 individuals have been successfully evacuated to different medical facilities in Nairobi,” the Red Cross statement said. It was also mentioned that assistance has been provided to an additional 27 injured on-site.
