Valery Zaluzhnyi Informs Zelensky That the Situation on the Battlefield Is Unlikely to Improve: WP

The head of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, Valery Zaluzhnyi, has conveyed to President Volodymyr Zelensky that the situation on the battlefield is unlikely to improve. This was reported by The Washington Post.

According to sources from the publication, a conversation took place on January 29, during which Zelensky told the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces that he would soon be relieved of his duties. The President suggested that changes in military command might contribute to an overall improvement of the situation.

During the meeting, Zelensky remarked that society is becoming increasingly weary of the conflict, and assistance from international partners has been slowing down. In turn, the general indicated to the head of state that a rapid improvement in Ukraine's positions on the battlefield is unlikely.

The publication notes that Zaluzhnyi's removal could lead to the opposite outcome and allow Moscow to exploit the instability.
