No Troop Buildup at the Border: Suren Papikyan

The Minister of Defense, Suren Papikyan, gave an interview to Public Television today, February 2, where he discussed reforms in the Armed Forces and security issues with Petros Ghazaryan.

“At this moment, we can assess the situation as relatively stable; there are no troop buildups. The situation of the last few months presents certain signs of stability and calm,” he stated.

According to Suren Papikyan, Armenia has gained new partners at the level of major powers and other friendly countries. “We have set ourselves the task of ensuring the diversification of weapons and ammunition. I can consider this process irreversible in a positive sense, as the initiated processes will significantly change the quality of our army and armaments for the future. We have acquired new partners at the level of major powers and other friendly countries. The first and foremost are India and France, but there are also other countries,” the minister said.
