US Embassy Warns Citizens Against Visiting Certain Areas of Armenia
The US Embassy in Armenia has issued a warning today, February 2, urging embassy staff and their families to refrain from visiting several areas of the Republic of Armenia. The statement indicates that this warning comes with a degree of relaxation from the last notice made.
“US embassy personnel and their families are prohibited from any non-essential travel to the following locations, reflecting the easing of restrictions since the last notice:”
- Gegharkunik Province - East of Vardenis
- Syunik Province - East of Goris
- Syunik Province - South of Kapan
- Travel through the village of Yeraskh in Ararat Province is permitted, with no stops allowed.”
“US citizens should continue to exercise caution near all international borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Be aware that certain portions of roads may cross international borders without prior notice. Roads may be monitored by checkpoints or closed to travelers without warning,” the message stated.
