Charges Filed Against Citizen Who Defaced Monument Dedicated to Besieged Leningrad Children

Charges have been filed against Samvel Shirinyan for committing vandalism near the monument dedicated to the children of besieged Leningrad. The information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by Gor Abrahamyan, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

The resident of Yerevan has been charged under part 2 of article 329 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which pertains to public expressions inciting hatred, discrimination, intolerance, or hostility, as well as the dissemination of materials or objects aimed at promoting these aims through publicly displayed works, mass media, or information and communication technologies.

It is noteworthy that on January 27, Samvel Shirinyan publicly ripped and trampled the ribbons symbolizing the Russian flag near the monument in Yerevan and toppled flower arrangements, subsequently posting a video with offensive comments about Russia on the TikTok social network. A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident.
