Prosecutor Sends Case of Soldier Killed at Combat Position to Court

The prosecutor confirmed on January 29, 2024, the indictment regarding the case of the mandatory conscript soldier, Private M.G., who was killed at a combat position of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia and has submitted the case materials to the first instance court of general jurisdiction of Ararat and Vayots Dzor regions. This was reported by the Office of the General Prosecutor of Armenia.

It is noteworthy that on July 26, 2023, official information was published in mass media stating that at approximately 16:45, the body of conscript soldier Private M.G. was discovered at a combat position with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

The investigative committee initiated criminal proceedings, and evidence gathered confirmed that fellow serviceman, conscript soldier A.H., inflicted the fatal gunshot wound to M.G. during a conversation that escalated from a personal issue, which involved insults.

On July 28, 2023, the prosecutor initiated public criminal prosecution against A.H. under Part 1 of Article 155 of the Criminal Code (murder), and on July 29, public criminal prosecution was also initiated against soldier T.S., the position's senior, for aiding the perpetrator and concealing the act of murder.

According to the court's ruling, detention was selected as the measure of restraint for A.H., while T.S. was prohibited from leaving the country.
