Why Did Law Enforcement Enter the Ministry of Economy? A Question for Vahan Kerobyan
Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan is unaware if the National Security Service has "entered" the ministry or if it was another agency. Today, on January 31, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly, he stated: "To be honest, I don’t know if it’s the NSS or not, and I don’t know why they entered."
“Naturally, state authorities can mainly enter for corruption cases, and we prioritize the fight against corruption. But I should also note that we respect the presumption of innocence. I should mention that in the last three years, there have been no such issues regarding the employees of the Ministry of Economy," he added.
In response to reporters' observation that the deputy minister Ani Ispriyan's dismissal coincided with these actions, the minister replied that it is just a coincidence: "Ani had stated 1.5 months ago that her husband found a job in the Netherlands, and they are preparing to move, and a few days before moving, she submitted her resignation. Ask a different question," he said and requested not to ask him about this topic.
"I was here and still have no news. I think it would be more appropriate to refer to the relevant bodies conducting the investigative actions for news," Kerobyan noted.
It should be reminded that earlier it was reported that, according to media sources, Ani Ispriyan, who was dismissed from the position of Deputy Minister of Economy, has been arrested by the NSS. It has also been reported that the head of the Public Investment Department of the Ministry of Economy has been arrested as well.
