Discussion on Alen Simonyan's Resignation in the Ruling Party
According to ArmLur, the question of the resignation of National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan is currently being intensely discussed within the ruling authorities. "Our sources indicate that there is a consensus in parliament regarding this matter, as per our sources in the ruling party - Alen Simonyan's sister-in-law's actions are being considered political treachery. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has also maintained the same stance. The patience of the party members has long been exhausted, and everyone is gritting their teeth, waiting for him to leave the parliament. The fact is, the relationship between Alen Simonyan and the ruling party team has been very strained for a long time, and one could say that his departure would be met with applause by everyone," the website reported.
The media outlet also contacted Alen Simonyan's spokesperson, Nelly Ghulyan, to clarify the authenticity of the resignation issue: "All claims are ridiculous and do not correspond to reality."
It should be noted that two days ago, seven individuals were arrested at the Ministry of Economy, including Ani Isperyan, who had been relieved of her duties as Deputy Minister of Economy just one day prior. Ani Gevorgyan, Alen Simonyan's brother's wife, was also arrested. Following the arrests at the Ministry of Economy, several employees from one of the most prominent IT organizations, 'Synergy,' were also detained. It later emerged that Ashot Hovhannisyan and Ani Gevorgyan were arrested. Former Deputy Minister of Economy Ani Isperyan has been placed under house arrest for two months.
