This is a threat to us and corresponding measures are being taken: Peskov

Russia considers the Steadfast Defender 2024 NATO exercises that have started in Europe to be a threat. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, during a briefing.

Peskov explained that the alliance was created for confrontation with Moscow, therefore the Russian Federation is taking the necessary measures.

According to the press secretary, Russia “definitely perceives” NATO exercises as a threat since “NATO is a tool for confrontation,” and the alliance is thus “formed, organized, and currently led by the United States.”

“This is a threat to us, and we regard it that way. Therefore, corresponding measures are constantly being taken, especially against the backdrop of how the alliance has been moving its military infrastructure closer to our borders for several decades,” Peskov said.
