The Son of a Civil Contract MP Removed from His Position as Head of Yerevan-Kentron Prison

Arman Melkonyan, the head of the Justice Ministry's Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution, has been relieved of his duties, according to 168.am. It is noteworthy that Melkonyan is the son of Gagik Melkonyan, a member of the National Assembly from the Civil Contract party.

Arman Melkonyan was appointed as the head of Yerevan-Kentron following his tenure as the head of the Artik penitentiary. According to reports, he will be replaced by Ruben Khalapyan, the former head of the Penitentiary Hospital.

For some time now, dark clouds have been gathering over Arman Melkonyan, particularly linked to the case involving former Minister of Defense David Tonoyan. The latter had been allowed a brief visit with his mother on the way to the Investigation Committee. However, as a result of palace intrigues, Sergei Atomyan, head of the Penitentiary Service, was dismissed, while Arman Melkonyan received a severe reprimand.

Despite the support of Gagik Melkonyan, who has been promoting Nikol Pashinyan's propaganda claims 24/7, he could not save his son's position. There is speculation about the possibility of a higher appointment for him. According to 168.am, Manuk Poghosyan, the head of Vanadzor Penitentiary, is also set to be dismissed, with a deputy head from one of the prisons expected to take over.
