Snowfall in Some Regions; Road Closures Reported
The "Road Department" foundation reports that as of today at 5 PM, snowfall is occurring in the regions of Ashtarak, Yeghgnadzor, and Meghri. In the regions of Stepanavan, Vayk, and Sisian, there are areas of black ice on the roadways.
The Stepanavan mountain pass is impassable for vehicles with trailers. The Vardenyats mountain pass is closed for vehicles with trailers, while other types of vehicles face difficulties getting through. All interstate and national significance highways are open.
Road construction crews are conducting cleaning and treatment operations with salt and sand on the roads. The emergency rescue service also reports that there are closed and impassable roads within the territory of Armenia.
Due to road renovation works until February 15, the section of the M-6 highway between Vanadzor and Alaverdi, near kilometers 38-40, will be closed for buses and vehicles with trailers or semi-trailers. A detour will operate through the city of Noyemberyan.
In the Aragatsotn province, the roads leading from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station to the Amberd Fortress and the Stone Lake are closed. The Vardenyats mountain pass is impassable for trucks with trailers, while other vehicles face difficulties. The winding roads of Stepanavan are also impassable for trucks with trailers.
In the town of Chambarak, snow is falling in the Sisian-Zanger and "Meghru Sar" sections.
According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the North Ossetia Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.
