Avinyan on Failures in Snow Removal Operations

We have gone and participated in the organizational work of snow removal. This was stated today, January 30, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan.

“We have had shortcomings related to sidewalks, we have had problems concerning inter-block areas, and currently, we are actively working with the private sector on the sidewalks because a large portion of the responsibility for the sidewalks is placed on private companies. We do not have an issue with equipment; the problem lies in fixing the responsibility of each party. The municipality is fulfilling its responsibilities, but what the private sector should implement, the community should carry out... it is difficult to explain to a person that what the community should do is not the fault of the municipality. We are compelled to engage the entire system. I agree that we have fallen short in that respect,” noted Avinyan.

It is worth recalling that during Taron Margaryan’s tenure, Avinyan believed that Taron Margaryan and his employees should shovel snow themselves.
