Identity of Person Defiling the Memorial of Besieged Leningrad Children Revealed: Investigative Committee

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has initiated criminal proceedings regarding an incident involving the memorial erected in honor of the "Besieged Leningrad Children." Gohar Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the committee, reported that on January 30, the committee received information from the police regarding a video shared on social media, which showed an individual committing apparent acts of vandalism at the memorial located in V. Davtyan Park in Yerevan.

Following the received report, a criminal case was initiated under part 1 of Article 297 of the Armenian Criminal Code at the Arabkir investigative division of the Yerevan Investigative Department. An investigation is underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and to legally assess the actions of the individual involved.

As a result of operational and investigative measures, the identity of the offender has been established, and steps are being taken to present them to the prosecuting authority.
