All Prescriptions to Be Electronic Starting January 1, 2025
In preparation for the implementation of electronic prescriptions, the Ministry of Health continues a series of meetings and discussions with stakeholders involved in retail pharmacy activities. This information was provided by the Ministry of Health.
Marina Harutyunyan, head of the Ministry's pharmaceutical policy department, emphasized the importance of this reform, stating, "The foundation of this seemingly technical process is the health of our citizens; the goal is to provide quality medications to patients and to protect them from self-medication and overdosing."
The complete traceability of electronic prescriptions, from the doctor's appointment to the pharmacy dispensing, was outlined by the head of the "Armed" electronic system programs, assuring that there will be no difficulties or additional burdens for the pharmacies, as long as they are connected to the "Armed" system, and that the steps in the electronic system will be more than straightforward.
Dozens of pharmacists, chemists, and healthcare professionals from all regions of the country participated online in the meeting. Their questions and observations will be taken into account to make the electronic healthcare system more adaptable.
Discussions will continue. It should be noted that in the coming months, prescriptions will be issued electronically for medications provided free of charge or under preferential conditions, including antimicrobial (antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral drugs), immune serums and immunoglobulins, hormonal and misoprostol medications.
Starting January 1, 2025, all prescriptions will be exclusively electronic.
