Witnesses in Chelyabinsk, Russia, have reported seeing bright flashes in the sky over the city. According to media reports, the cause of the illumination may have been an explosion at a substation in the village of Krasnoye Pole.

Eyewitnesses note that after the explosion, power was partially cut off in Krasnoye Pole as well as in the neighboring village of Mokhovichki.
