VIDEO: We Are Waiting for Azerbaijan's Response, Says Deputy Foreign Minister
These have been political statements that have not had any political repercussions. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan during a conversation with reporters today, addressing the proposals made to Azerbaijan regarding mutual arms control and non-aggression, announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“If there are appropriate positive responses, naturally, the discussions will move to another phase,” he said.
Regarding the prospects of signing a peace treaty, the deputy minister noted, “We continue to be genuinely interested in the complete normalization of relations with our neighbors and in signing a peace treaty. As you know, on January 4, we sent the revised version of the relevant agreement text from the Armenian side. Essentially, we are waiting for Azerbaijan's response. Statements were made yesterday that a response would be forthcoming within a few weeks.”
When asked about Moscow's intentions to replace the Russian ambassador in Armenia, Kostanyan stated that he did not have such information: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not received any official correspondence.”
Regarding the appointment of the Armenian ambassador to Russia, as the agreement has already been sent, he mentioned, “When there are updates, it will be properly communicated.”
To the question of whether Armenia has joined the documents of the CSTO summit in Minsk, which the CSTO Secretary-General brought with him to Yerevan, Vahan Kostanyan responded, “They are currently in the discussion phase.”
