Video: Citizens Gather at the Ministry of Education to Demand Zhanna Andreasian's Resignation
Citizens gathered in front of the Ministry of Education and Science to demand the resignation of Zhanna Andreasian, submitting a resignation letter written in her name to the ministry's correspondence department in a black folder. Vazgen Petrosyan, coordinator of the 'People's Movement of Armenia,' noted that the history textbook for seventh grade is problematic and needs to be retracted, but the Minister of Education has not responded to their demand.
This has prompted them to gather today in front of the ministry, already calling for Zhanna Andreasian's resignation. 'We have come to give the minister a copy of the resignation letter so that she can sign it quickly and resign. If she does not do this, we will be persistent in our pursuit of her resignation. I am being very honest when I say that we are not joking, and we will go to the end. It is impossible to educate generations with a fake, incomplete book; in doing so, we will ruin them. This incomplete textbook is a commission from Turkey,' stated Petrosyan.
He also read the text of the resignation letter they prepared, in which Minister of Education and Science Zhanna Andreasian asks Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to dismiss her from office. 'If the minister does not respond to us within 24 hours, we will gather here again on Wednesday, January 31, in the second half of the day and continue our action. If we, as a people, accept what is being brought upon us, then we should not blame anyone else, but only ourselves for submitting to all this,' he said.
