US Must Strike Key Targets Inside Iran, Senator Says
The United States should conduct missile strikes against Iran in response to an attack on one of its bases in the Middle East. Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina expressed this viewpoint on the social media platform X. He believes that taking such action would prevent similar incidents in the future.
“The Biden administration can eliminate all Iranian proxies it wants, but that will not deter Iranian aggression. I call on the administration to strike key sites inside Iran not only as retribution for the murder of our troops but also to deter future aggression,” Graham stated.
The senator expressed confidence that the Iranian government only responds to forceful methods. He emphasized that as long as Iran does not face real consequences for its infrastructure and military personnel, attacks on American troops will continue. Graham also criticized U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, pointing out the failure of his efforts to deter aggression against American forces in the region.
It is noted that several American service members suffered various injuries due to artillery fire at the Al Asad military base in western Iraq. According to the Pentagon, Iranian-backed militants launched several ballistic missiles toward the base. Most of the missiles were intercepted by air defense systems; however, some managed to reach their targets.
