Toyvo Klaar Not Allowed to Enter Abkhazia

Within the scope of my mandate, I was planning to visit Abkhazia at the end of January 2024. Unfortunately, my interlocutors there told me that this is impossible. This was stated by the EU's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Toyvo Klaar. Jam News reported on this.

According to him, this is already the second refusal in the past six months. “The relative openness of Abkhazia should not suffer due to the war in Ukraine against Russia,” Klaar wrote. He noted that closing off communication routes with Abkhazia does not correspond to anyone's interests.
