Hajizade Responds to Nikol Pashinyan's Statement
The spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykhan Hajizade, has responded to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement regarding the agreement on arms control and non-aggression. According to APA, this information was included in a statement by the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Recall that on January 28, in connection with Army Day, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that he had proposed Azerbaijan to sign a mutual arms control mechanism and a non-aggression agreement.
Hajizade stated, "The statement by the Prime Minister of Armenia aims to divert attention from the bilateral peace agreement draft and the process of establishing inter-state relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. It is well known that it is Armenia that has grossly violated its obligations under international treaties that recognize our territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as arms control mechanisms for 30 years."
"Armenia has carried out aggression against Azerbaijan, hiding most of its military equipment and weapons systems during the occupation of our territories from international arms control mechanisms, illegally deploying them within our territory," Hajizade said.
He added, "Azerbaijan, for its part, will continue its peaceful and constructive efforts and expects appropriate actions from Armenia, not just words but deeds."
