Court Declares Actor Alain Delon Incompetent
The 88-year-old French actor Alain Delon, who has suffered from neurological disorders and physical exhaustion following a double stroke in 2019, has come under judicial protection, reports BFM TV.
This status suggests that important decisions regarding significant expenses, real estate sales, property transfers, and more will be made by a third party appointed by the court on behalf of Delon. The same “third-party agent” is tasked with assisting the actor in terms of medical oversight and selecting doctors.
“This will allow the third party to help Mr. Alain Delon with medical supervision. The judge deemed it necessary to exclude Delon’s children from their father’s medical control,” emphasized attorney Hiromi Rolyn, a 66-year-old Japanese woman who has long been the actor's nurse but recently began referring to herself as his “companion.”
“There are reasons to welcome this decision,” commented the actor's daughter, Anushka Delon's attorney, Frank Burton. “If it helps clarify the situation and prevents lawyers from discussing my father’s illness without even knowing the case materials, that is good. This medical dispute will be resolved once and for all,” said Alain Delon’s son, Anthony.
Just a few days ago, Le Parisien published an investigation regarding a complaint brought by the actor’s children against Hiromi Rolyn, accusing her of abusing their father. According to the publication, in the summer of 2023, Delon was questioned by two officers from the Orleans police’s investigative division, who stated that the actor was “physically weakened and unable to form sentences.”
Le Parisien claims that afterwards, the actor allegedly complained to a therapist who examined him at home on the investigator's behalf: “I want to die; my life is over.” When asked what role Hiromi Rolyn played in his life, Delon reportedly responded in the presence of his daughter to the police. He allegedly stated that he and Rolyn “met thirty years ago, then there were ups and downs,” and that she initially was his companion but then “became more intimate.” After an investigation, the actor's children’s complaint against the nurse was dismissed; however, they nonetheless terminated her employment.
Delon’s daughter and sons claimed that Rolyn “morally pressured” their father, “misappropriated his correspondence,” and behaved “demeaningly and aggressively” towards him. They stated that the nurse intercepted letters and took calls directed at the actor, acting “in her own interest.”
Rolyn filed a counter-complaint against Delon’s heirs, accusing them of violence when they expelled her from the actor’s home in Duchy on July 5, 2023. This complaint, as Le Parisien reports citing the prosecutor's office, was dismissed after reviewing footage from security cameras located on the premises.
