Arnold Schwarzenegger Released After Paying €35,000 Fine
Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was detained at Munich Airport, has been released. The actor is required to pay a fine of €35,000 for violating customs regulations.
Earlier reports indicated that Schwarzenegger was taken into custody at Munich Airport while attempting to smuggle a luxury watch. According to the Bild newspaper, he was carrying a replica of an Audemars Piguet Swiss luxury watch to be showcased at the climate summit in Kitzbühel. These watches were specially made at the actor's request, with intentions to sell them at auction for around €20,000.
“We are investigating Arnold Schwarzenegger on suspicion of tax evasion; he was supposed to declare the watch,” said Thomas Meister, a representative of the Munich customs service.
