Lars is Closed, Roads Closed in Armenia

The Rescue Service reports that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of Armenia. This information was provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Due to renovation works until February 15, the Vanadzor-Alaverdi section of the M-6 highway, around kilometers 38-40, will be closed for buses and heavy vehicles with trailers or semi-trailers. A detour will operate through the town of Noyemberyan.

Roads from the ‘Amberd’ high mountain meteorological station to the Amberd Fortress and Kar Lake in the Aragatsotn province are closed. The Berd-Chambarak, Vanadzor-Stepanavan, and the road from Tashir city to the village of Vardaghbyur in Shirak province are also closed.

The Vardenyats mountain pass is closed for trucks with trailers. The roads in Syunik province and the Vanadzor-Dilijan route are difficult to navigate for heavy trucks with trailers.

In Lori province, the Gogavan-Stepanavan and Blagadarnoe-Katnarat roads are difficult to navigate for all types of vehicles. There is snow in Shirak province, the Aragats and Aparan regions, and the town of Talin.

Heavy snowfall is causing blizzards on the Vardenyats mountain pass and the Berd-Chambarak road.

About Lars, according to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the North Ossetia department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for trucks with trailers. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
