PM: People Should Not Worry About Seeing Salt, But Whether Asphalt is Visible or Not

In Armenia, the tradition of spreading salt and sand on inter-state and republican roads has been replaced by the use of machinery. "When we were spreading with shovels, the salt was very visible. Now, the machinery spreads it uniformly, and people say it hasn’t been done, but there are GPS devices on vehicles that help us track when and where the salt was spread," said Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan during a government meeting.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan intervened, stating, "Excuse me, but people should not worry about seeing salt or not; they need to see whether the asphalt is visible or if it is ice. The presence of salt is not the main issue here." According to him, the issue lies not in the salt but in the condition of the roads.

Sanosyan reported that the only road currently closed to all types of vehicles is the Vardenyats Pass, but it will reopen during the day as active work is being conducted.
