Precipitation Levels Exceed Norms Across the Republic as of January 25

In the past three days, the entire republic has experienced heavy snowfall due to an active cyclone from the Mediterranean region, reported by the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center.

As of January 25, precipitation across the republic has surpassed the monthly norm, reaching 150-200 percent of the climatic standard, with certain areas in Syunik experiencing up to 350 percent.

The maximum snow depth currently recorded is 118 cm at the Aragats high-altitude station, 103 cm in Jermuk, 84 cm in Amberd, while other mountainous areas have 20-50 cm, Lori and Tavush regions have 21-37 cm, Syunik has 13-24 cm, the Ararat valley 5-15 cm, and Yerevan 10-15 cm.

Starting from the upcoming hours, precipitation will cease across the republic. A dry spell is expected to continue until the evening of January 26. Late on January 26 and on January 27, due to the arrival of another cyclone from the Mediterranean, snow is anticipated again across the republic, with snowfall and blizzard conditions possible in some mountainous areas.

From January 28 onwards, a cessation of precipitation is expected. Significant variations in air temperature are not forecast for the next five days.
