Schwarzenegger Sells Watch at Auction That Led to His Arrest in Germany

Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger has sold his watch at auction for €270,000, which had become the reason for his arrest by customs officials in Munich, Germany, several Western media outlets report.

The charity auction took place on the evening of January 18 at the Stanglwirt hotel near the ski resort of Kitzbühel in Austria. The starting price of the Swiss brand Audemars Piguet watch, custom-made for the actor, was set at €50,000. The proceeds will be allocated to environmental projects under the 'Schwarzenegger Climate Initiatives.'

On January 17, Schwarzenegger was detained by German customs representatives at Munich airport for attempting to bring a high-value watch without declaring it. The actor spent several hours at the airport before being released after paying a fine of €35,000.
