NATO to Conduct Largest Exercises in Decades
Nearly 90,000 troops will participate in NATO's largest exercises in decades, named Steadfast Defender. This was stated by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Christopher Cavoli, as reported by Reuters. According to him, the exercises will begin next week and continue until May.
"The alliance will demonstrate its ability to strengthen the Euro-Atlantic region by bringing forces from North America across the Atlantic Ocean," Cavoli said.
Bild notes that NATO last held such large-scale exercises in 1988, with 125,000 military personnel participating at that time.
