I'm not one of the proponents of musical racism; I listen to all kinds of music, including rabiz. This was stated by parliamentary member Vahagn Aleksanyan from the ruling party during a session in the National Assembly.

He noted that Armenchik is a respected and loved singer in his circles. “By this logic, who can explain to me why Armenchik is a Honored Artist, while Tigran Jamkochyan is not? I can't understand this. They are singers of the same genre,” he emphasized, adding that it is absurd for an artist to be recognized as ‘popular’ by a decree from the President of the Republic.

“Who decided that a singer should be elite, while a carpenter should not? What is the difference, and who benefits from that difference?” the MP questioned.

It should be noted that the National Assembly is discussing a new draft amendment proposed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, which suggests abolishing the titles of People's Artist of Armenia, People's Painter of Armenia, Honored Artist of Armenia, and Honored Painter of Armenia.
