China Welcomes Taiwan Election Results
The results of Taiwan's election indicate that the Democratic Progressive Party does not reflect the main viewpoints of the local population. This was stated by Chen Binhua, an official representative of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
“The elections held today in the Taiwan region showed that the Democratic Progressive Party does not represent the mainstream opinion of the island. Taiwan is part of China,” he said.
The Chinese official noted that the voting will not change the direction of the development of relations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. According to him, their position on this issue is consistent, and their will is “as solid as a rock.” Beijing will act against Taiwan's independence and foreign interference, Chen Binhua concluded.
