VIDEO: I Will Do Everything to Prevent Your Law from Being Adopted - Agazaryan
During the session of the Parliamentary Permanent Commission on Defense and Security, the draft law on making amendments and changes to the "Law on Military Service and the Status of a Military Serviceman" was discussed for the second reading.
The draft, proposed by My Step faction MP Hayk Sargsyan, suggests allowing citizens who are over 27 years old and have not completed mandatory military service to either serve in the military while paying relevant amounts to the state budget or to pay the corresponding sums to be exempted from criminal liability without serving.
During the session, My Step faction MP Hovik Agazaryan questioned Sargsyan, asking if the proposed draft law might introduce negative behavior.
"I do not agree with the spirit of this law. Doesn’t this raise the question of where young boys and those aged 23-24 will be in 15 years if this law is adopted? Will not a father of a 2-year-old boy think that in 15 years another Hayk Sargsyan will come to Parliament and adopt a similar law? Aren’t you worried that you are introducing negative behavior among teenagers and young people?" Agazaryan stated.
