VIDEO: Armenia Will No Longer Be at War, Says Aghazaryan
I believe this is a tactical move by Hayk Sargsyan, hoping that he will withdraw under our pressure, while the other changes will be accepted because they are absolutely unacceptable. This was stated today by the ruling Civil Contract party MP Hovik Aghazaryan during a meeting of the RA National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security.
It should be noted that with this proposal, MP Hayk Sargsyan from the Civil Contract party offers citizens who have turned 27 and have not completed mandatory military service the opportunity to either engage in military service by paying corresponding amounts to the RA state budget or to be exempted from criminal liability by paying an appropriate amount without serving in the military.
Aghazaryan asserted, "It is taken into consideration that someone might just pay the 2.5 million drams, go on reserve duty, and when the war breaks out tomorrow or the day after, they will participate in that war. The Republic of Armenia will no longer be at war at any point in time." He substantiated his statement with the policies pursued by our Ministry of Defense, emphasizing the strengthening of Armenia and geopolitical issues.
