It Cannot Have Profound Consequences, Peskov Says
The U.S. has not informed Moscow about the decision of the White House administration to support the confiscation of Russian assets, and there are almost no communication channels with Washington, said Dmitri Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, to RIA Novosti.
“Of course, we have almost no communication channels; no one has informed anyone,” Peskov said.
Earlier, it was reported that Bloomberg, citing a letter from the National Security Council to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, stated that the White House supports a bill aimed at seizing Russia's frozen assets. At the same time, the White House wants to coordinate actions with other G7 countries, in order to mitigate the risk of undermining foreign investor confidence in the United States, the agency noted.
“Of course, this is a very provocative statement, which announces the possibility of illegal actions against our property, our assets. It cannot have profound consequences. We have spoken about this,” Dmitri Peskov said to RIA Novosti.
