Israeli Soldiers Destroy Nearly 400 Mosques in Gaza

As a result of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, approximately 400 mosques have been completely or partially destroyed. This data has been provided by the enclave’s media relations department. According to TASS, the information indicates that “Israeli soldiers have completely demolished 140 mosques and partially damaged 240, while three Christian churches have also incurred damage.”

The agency added that some of the architectural objects affected by Israeli operations were built “more than a thousand years ago.” Mosques and churches in the enclave have been subjected to systematic missile strikes and bombardments, with some munitions weighing more than 4.4 tons. The department described such attacks on religious sites as a “gross violation of international humanitarian law,” contradicting the 1954 Hague Convention on the “Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.”

The statement also urged the international community to “urgently intervene to halt the criminal attacks on mosques and churches” and to “make efforts to restore them in the future.”
