VIDEO: A boy on North Avenue told me he earns 30,000 drams a day lying on the ground, says minister
We are discussing various social programs to encourage people to work. This was stated today by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Narek Mkrtchyan, during a press conference.
“I have encountered more street vendors in many leading countries than in Armenia. However, the issue of street children is concerning. We held consultations with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and a special strengthened service was implemented. If you notice, the situation with children has changed quite a bit,” he noted.
According to him, the patrol service also has a significant role to play here. “There was a time when I always saw that boy on North Avenue. He told me that he earns 30,000 drams a day lying on the ground and that he has a house. But on a fake sign, it was written that he had participated in the war and that his house had been taken. However, once this was revealed and people were informed, I now see that that boy is no longer there,” he mentioned.
