Central Bank Proposes Zero Intermediary Fee for State Payments
The Central Bank will propose that there be zero intermediary fees for state payments. This was announced by Garegin Gevorgyan, the director of the Financial Stability and Regulation Department of the Central Bank of Armenia, during a session of the National Assembly of Armenia.
According to him, while the culture of cashless payments has already begun to take shape, it is still not widespread. He also expressed frustration over instances where there is a price difference between cash and cashless payment options, noting that this difference is particularly significant with larger purchases.
He pointed out that citizens primarily make cashless purchases at supermarkets and grocery stores, followed by food establishments such as restaurants, and hotels come next. There has also been a substantial increase in cashless transactions within the healthcare sector.
