The CSTO has Never Recognized Armenia's Borders. This is a Serious Issue, Says Armen Grigoryan
Armenia no longer has any expectations from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan announced this during a public broadcast.
"We have no expectations from the CSTO. In September 2022 or earlier, when broad-scale attacks were occurring against Armenia, Armenia appealed to the CSTO expecting assistance to defend our sovereign territory. We received no adequate response from the CSTO and over time we understood that we cannot have any expectations in this regard," Grigoryan stated.
According to him, when the CSTO makes a statement, evaluates, and defends the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and borders of Armenia, then the Armenian side will understand what action to take.
In response to the comment that the CSTO announces its readiness to send observers to Armenia and is also offering military-technical assistance, the Secretary of the Security Council replied that no military-technical assistance has been offered to Armenia from the CSTO, and when CSTO observers were asked which border they were coming to protect, no clear answer was provided.
"The CSTO has never recognized Armenia's borders, the CSTO does not acknowledge its responsibility zone. This is a very important factor. The CSTO does not recognize its area of responsibility in our region, and this is a very serious issue for Armenia," he said.
