Mutual Recognition of Academic Degrees in EAEU Countries
The Science, Education, and Culture Committee of the National Assembly of Armenia has approved the ratification of the agreement on the mutual recognition of academic degree documents among the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The proposal for ratification was presented at the committee meeting by Arthur Martirosyan, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of Armenia.
The agreement was signed on June 8, 2023, at the level of the heads of government of the EAEU member states. "With the ratification of the agreement, the mutual recognition of documents regarding academic degrees will be regulated, facilitating employment in EAEU countries. The ultimate goal is to ensure the accessibility of professional activities for those holding these documents in the field of labor migration," stated Martirosyan.
Thus, there will be no need for further examination. The provisions of the agreement will also apply to the documents concerning academic degrees issued prior to the agreement coming into force, except in cases where a negative decision has been made by the employment state during the procedure for recognizing academic degree documents based on the results of the dissertation defense.
At this time, only Armenia and Kazakhstan among the EAEU countries have not yet ratified the agreement. The agreement will be discussed at the plenary session of the National Assembly.
